Robert Walker was born in Los Angeles, received his M.F.A. from U.C.Irvine, and continues to live and work in L.A. He exhibits regularly in the U.S., Asia and Southeast Asia Walker was a full-time professor of art history at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita for 22 years, retiring in 2012. He led the art history travel abroad programs to France and Italy for the college for many years. He has long been a social activist in the artistic community of Los Angeles. In 1986 he founded the first program for homeless artists in the city and in 1988 he pioneered a program for artists with Aids and HIV. He has served on the board of a number of non-profit artists’ organizations in Los Angeles and at present serves at LA Artcore where he was board chair for 10 years.
